Hi, I dont know if this topic belongs here, if not please move it.

Anyway i was wondering if any one has any suggestions regarding keeping mice out of stored vehicles.
I was at a friends shop were my truck and 6,000km GTP are stored, and noticed to my HORROR that there was a mouse? nest on the intake of my truck.
I removed it ( with pliers ) and checked the interior carefully and it looks OK, but i am freaked about the little bastages getting in my new Gran Prix, as well as doing damage to my truck.
I checked the GTP and it appears OK, nothing in the engine compartment, interior, trunk etc.
I allready have cedar moth balls in the truck interior, and i remember reading somewhere on a TC post, about using "Bounce" drier sheets to discourage rodents, so i added about 6 sheets into both vehicles. I also wadded up some sheets and stuck them in the tailpipes.
I also added traps on the truck intake as well as around the vehicles. Sure glad my Z28 is at my house, and protected well.

Anybody else have any other idea,s?

Thanks in Advance.

Spring loaded mouse traps baited with Swiss cheese. A cat. The unfortunate situation you have is lack of checking on it everyday to reset the traps.

I've always had good luck with d-con. Just make sure other good animals can't get to the box.

Been told a couple things for this (haven't implemented either so I'm not sure how successful they are).

1. Bucket Trap - take a pop can and drill a hole in the center of top and bottom. Run a wire (coat hanger) through the can. Bend the wire so you place it across a 5 gallon bucket and the can is lower that the top edge of the bucket. Put a gallon of anti-freeze in the bucket and smear peanut butter all over the can. The mice will try to get a lunch and the can will spin, dumping them into the pool! Check/empty the victims once a week or so.

2. Put a couple rolls of toilet paper around or in your car. If a mouse does get in, the idea is that they will use the toilet paper instead of chewing up carpet or upholstery. If you think your storage is mouse proof, a couple rolls left out is a good way to check and see if some visitors have found their way in.

Good Luck.

Robb, I like the bucket idea, but why antifreeze? It would seem like water would do the trick. Peanut Butter is good though. Mice prefer Peanut Butter, they even will eat chocolate. Both would make good bait substitutes in case you just want to 'snap' trap. You definately DON'T want a dead mouse in some hard to reach area of your car. The smell is awful and lasts for months.

Antifreeze has a sweet taste and smell is sweet, aka, cotton candy.

When I used De-Con in the garage it turned into a mouse cemetary. It took a while to find all the dead and clean the smell out. Toilet paper sounds like a good idea because there is isn't too much that's mouse proof. Kevin
