i got my new steering wheel (collectors edition 1170 three spoke) and the adapter wont accept the horn contact assembly, maybe im lookin at the instructions wrong and assembling it wrong, the kit i have is the billet kit part number 5162-1 (GM and AMC), if anyone has a grant wheel on a '67 stock steering column, i need help, maybe im missing something, or have the wrong adapter? - thanks for any help, derek

I also have a Grant steering wheel on my stock 67 steering column. The billet adapter I used was part # 5162 not 5162-1.
It fits perfect. Kiko.

i looked on grants website, and the -1 is just the polished, verses the black "luster" finish, so i have the right kit, what am i doing wrong? did you have to take anything out to fit the horn contact assembly in, ill look at it again, once again, appreciate the help, this is frustrating- derek

ya, i have the instructions, but theyre not clear on the horn contact assembly, the part on the column sticks through the hole that the grant contact assembly is supposed to go through, but without the original peice on the column, horn wont get any power, thanks for any help though, merry christmas to all- derek

I had the same problem with mine. I ended up cutting the peice that sticks into the adapter (the extension on the turn signal cam) and rigging something else that would work, think I used a piece of a ball point pen, a differeny spring, and kinda reworked the contact a little.

It works now, but would not fit in the hole before.

derek,,, i didn't used the stock round sheet metal piece that look like a dish w/ 3 holes for the screws, i think that's the horn contact. install the adapter w/o this part and see how it looks. kiko.

i found my problem,my mistake. i feel kind of stupid now, it said right in the instructions, i just didnt see it, looked and the diagram looked like for a newer car, so i passed it up the first few times. what ya had to do on the original peice right above the turn signal cam, ya had to take the contact assy out of the plastic housing, i just assumed the brass was molded to the factory piece, so i had to take out the original brass and red nylon sleeve of the black plastic sleeve, so the grant brass "plunger" could fit into the original sleeve, i omitted the grant sleeve and grant spring, and used the stock spring in the orig. sleeve. thanks for all the responses-derek
