My parents have some old home movies made back in the early '70's that are on 8mm reels (remember those?). Their old 8mm reel player has a burned out light bulb that we have been unable to find a replacement for. Is it possible to get these old films put on a more modern media?
Thanks!

Try your local cable company or look for a video production company that is local. My local cable company is Bright House. I had them fix a broken Hi8 tape I had with my sons first few days of life on it. It only cost a few bucks and they had it ready in a day. I would convert it all to to DVD. I just bought a new digital DV video camera and am in the process of converting all of mine to DVD. Good luck!

Radio Shack is supposed to be able to order projector bulbs. also look at your local "Environmental Park" (Dump). They often have a store selling things thrown away like old projectors.
I'd work toward getting the projector working and show the old movies on the screen, setup your video camera to video the screen and go to work.
You can pay to convert your movies if you don't have many feet of film. If you have a lot, it makes it worth doing your own.
If you can, try to later dub in a sound track of your folks describing who and where the videos are of. If you can't do the sound dubbing, tape record them and have someone add the sound to the tape.
Here's a place with old projectors and bulbs: http://www.vintagetechnology.com/body_pages/body_photography_8mm_movie.htm
