I have recentely bought an 88 camaro (5 speed manual, V6) from a buddy of mine. Within only a few days I relized that the trany mount was shot. None of the auto parts stores carry a mount for a manual, but chevy has one they can order for me for $160. And as you all have guessed I really don;t wanna pay $160 for a trany mount. Has anyone seen some after market mounts that work, or should I trust pulling one out of a junk yard?
Thanks

A transmission shop, one of many independent retailers. Your taking a chance with age at a salvage yard.

Call your local salvage yard or pick-n-pull...

Whaaaa, don't like the banging on the floor pan??? Common problem with the torque arm setup.
Your particular mount is a special fluid filled version, hence the expense. May be a good bet to get a crossmember from a newer car, say '90 -'92 and swap it in. Some of them are also a dual crossmember design. Has a smaller unit on top of the main crossmember that is rubber bushed.
All this because GM didn't want to produce and provide a decent driveshaft. If you run across an aluminum shaft grab it. Makes all the nasty vibrations go away. . .

Thanks for the input all
But today a friend of mine called me and told me he could order it through his dealership for $110 and so I went with it. Still salty but better than $160. Plus I figure it is better in the long run to go with a new stock part rather than a used or after market part.
So since I am paying $110 for a tranny mount, I think I am just going to leave the V6 as my power house and supe that up instead of paying and dropping in a V8 + tranny + another tranny mount which with my luck will cost even more.
So I guess its Power to the V6. lol

for about a third the price, you could have gotten a universal aftermarket poly mount and made a simple adapter plate out of a piece of steel.
