I juast recently bought and 87 IROCZ. I's a TPI and theres a loose wire under her hood. Here's where the wire is located. Right next to the distributor cap there is a wire bundle or harness if you will. Anyways, splitting out of the side of this "harness" there is a wire with a plug on the end of it. Now bare in mind my car will turn over all day but not fire up and this wire looks important enough to be the cause. If anyone knows what the male plug for the MAF looks like that what this plug looks like. There's 2 wires leading into the plug one is plain black and the other is black and red. There are 2 plugs going into the distributor its self so that rules. Please if anyone can dig around under the hood I'd be very apreceative.

Oil sending unit wire? there is a boss on the back of the block where the sender would go. Is it there?

I once fooled around with my 89 IROC with TPI. It has two plugs that are the same on the ends. I think one is the dist EST. wire which controlls spark timing, and the other is a sensor on the manifold, I think it is manifold air temp MAT I think.
I don't have the car anymore to check for you.

Go to your local Library and hopefully they will have a Chiltons or Mitchell Motor Manual with a wiring diagram in it.
I got a copy of my '67's wiring harness just to check everything once. (Actually I undid my starter and distribtor and let them sit until I forgot which wire went where!!!)
Good luck. pdq67
