What finish did the differential on a '69 Norwood car have? Also any good suggestion on getting some of the rust pits out (i.e. sandblasting)? TIA

I painted mine 40% gloss black. I know Jerry MacNeish (the Camaro resto Guru) says they can be 30-60% gloss black or natural steel for judging. The leaf springs are supposed to be natural, so for some contrast I went with a black rear and painted my leafs cast color. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I sand blasted mine and it turned out very nice. Always depends on how pitted a diff is but mine was fair to begin with. After blasting and stripped mine of all internals including bearings and sent it out for powder coating. That gives a baked on finish that fills pitting better than most paints.

Thanks guys. I just picked up a '69 BT coded 12 bolt at a swap meet last weekend. It has the original GM posi and 3.55 gears still in it and they look to be in pretty good shape. It's a little rusty so with a little cleanup I think it will work out great. It looks like it's been sitting for quite awhile so I was planning on replacing the wheel bearings and seals, the pinion seal, and all the brake stuff (it didn't come with the drums). I'm not sure it needs all of this but I figured it was better to replace it out of the car. Does this sound like the right approach?

The only one that concerns me is replacing the pinion seal. Any suggestions on what to look out for?
