View Full Version : master cylindef and diverter valve rebuild angelglo Apr 4th, 04, 07:38 PM does anyone know if Jerry MacNeish's place rebuilds these? or can anyone recommend someone. i also want the master cylinder cap and the diverter replated cadium. thanks angel Indy Z11 Apr 5th, 04, 04:58 AM Try http://www.brakeboosters.com for replating. I just sent my booster, master cylinder cap, and proportioning valve bracket there a couple days ago. Also check out this guy's other website http://www.detailplating.com. I hear this guy does award winning work. Unreal Apr 5th, 04, 05:10 AM I used a guy in CA named Steve Gregori. He did a great job. Rebuilt the booster, and replated the booster, prop valve bracket, and master cover for about $125. That was 5 years ago, so I'm not sure what it costs now. BTW, the gold cad is a "temporary" coating. My car sat in the paint shop for 18 months, and when I got it back, the plating was looking bad. I sent it back to Steve, and he replated it for $75. I asked if I could protect it with clear or wax, or something. He said that nothing works. It will take the "rainbow tint" out of it and just look gold. He said the key is to keep it away from high moisture or humidity....Yeah right, in Tennessee. I'm just going to replate it every 5 years or so. Indy Z11 Apr 5th, 04, 12:37 PM http://www.brakeboosters.com is Steve Gregori's business. He charges $145 now. stingr69 Apr 5th, 04, 04:35 PM Steve Gregori did mine too. I would not get the booster polished before plating next time. The factory did not polish them before finishing but they do have a little more shine that way. I think I like the duller look better personaly. Apple Hydraulics did the M/C sleeve work. Both are good people to deal with. -Mark. angelglo Apr 6th, 04, 10:30 AM i am also looking to get the master cylinder rebuilt. do they do that also? what about a place i can send my diverter valve? thanks angel bbd564 Apr 6th, 04, 12:27 PM If you have never had stuff plated before, please beware that the end result is directly dependendent on the condition of the stuff you send it. If you are started with pitted rusted stuff, you are going to get back pitted plated stuff, the rust will be gone, but the pits will stay. I have had boosters done several times and the old saying "garbage in=garbage out" holds true angelglo Apr 6th, 04, 01:29 PM bbd, yeah. i realize that. i just need a show finish on them. i dont want to use the eastwood sprays. thanks angel bbd564 Apr 6th, 04, 02:29 PM I have used Jerry MacNeish for booster plating and rebuild, and 4 piston caliper rebuilds, so he may do master cyl's and diverters. |
