: Luggage Rack
Sixty-Seven rs May 27th, 04, 09:49 AM When I bought my 67 Camaro rs in 1984 it had a luggage rack on it. I still have it and it is in good shape, but I don't think i will be putting it back on the car. I have not seen many on camaros. Is this a rare option that was available? Or did the previous owner put it on himself? Does anyone here a luggage rack on their camaro?

Geezer May 27th, 04, 01:55 PM You don’t see many of them. They were dealer installed I believe. I picked one up off epay several months ago for around $50, but I’m not sure if I’ll use it either.
Gary Dorion May 27th, 04, 05:23 PM The rack was a dealer install option. It is quite rare now to see a car with it. If I didn't have a rear spoiler, I WOULD put the rack on the car. You just don't see them much now which makes them rare.
HawaiianCamaro May 27th, 04, 06:17 PM I have a rack for my 68 RS which will be mounted back where it belongs. Got to make the car at least look stock since the drivetrain wont be graemlins/thumbsup.gif
67CruiseMasterCamaro May 28th, 04, 04:43 AM Since you guys have luggage racks as spares, and not being used. Would you like to sell them? If so, how much. Email me, and lets talk.

Sixty-Seven rs May 28th, 04, 05:00 AM I dunno if I am gonna hang on to mine or sell it. I noticed an auction on Ebay for one. So far the highest bid is $178.46 and there are still 2 1/2 days left. So I am leaning towards selling it and putting the $$ towards the new ZZ430 graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Vintage 68 May 28th, 04, 07:18 AM Having a convertible, with it's 'non-existant' trunk space, the "Rack" is the one option I have always thought would be great graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Quess I better break out my wallet soon before they go off the charts on me like lots of other parts...

DjD May 28th, 04, 07:25 AM Guys lets not turn the Restoration forum into a barter for parts just because someone owns up to owning something. E-mail works great for that kind of thing and if e-mail isn't published just ask the person to contact you as you have some questions...
So do you think a trunk rack would look ok on the White Wonder? Trunk space is limited and so far we have just mailed our luggage ahead of us when making more than one day trips...

I think it would look great - it's one of the few 'functional' add-ons I've considered.
I've never tried to "mail" my luggage ahead yet - that might be a better answer than sticking it in the back seat!

wacky174 May 28th, 04, 01:57 PM I have a rack on my '69 Coupe. I bought it on epay for $500.00. It was a NOS rack that was still in the original box from a chevrolet dealership in Washington state. My rack has the simulated burled wood centers. It was sold OTC from the GM parts guys. This rack took me 8 months to find. When I put it on the car most Camaro guys said that they have never seen a rack like this. They are very rare these days and few cars have them. I personally think that they look fantastic. I also have a NOS rear window louvers. There not on the car but may be someday. my car is being painted so I can't show you any pictures of the rack on the car but would mail you pictures of the rack off the car if you would like. I forgot to mention that my NOS luggage rack also has a NOS ski rack mount that locks onto the rack. It looks wicked with a set of snow ski's locked onto it. This summer I will be showing the car with the ski's attached. Super rare...

HawaiianCamaro May 28th, 04, 05:06 PM I missed the Ebay auction for the Camaro Ski Racks last year even rarer than the luggage rack
click May 29th, 04, 05:13 AM Never know when you might need a rack to carry something big :D

OHMYG-D
With no trunk space, I was interested but... Way too rich for my rust bucket blood, I think someone needs to start repoping them quick.
Geezer Jun 3rd, 04, 12:57 PM Well I still learn new things! The rack I picked up cheap was dealer installed on a Firebird and I figured they were probably the same as Camaro but it’s not. Funny thing is, the Bird rack is a much more attractive though!
Gary Dorion Jun 4th, 04, 06:26 PM Was the luggage rack ever installed on a car with the rear spoiler?
