All, I just bought my first Camaro, and am wondering are there any manuals or other publications that make good reference material that should be a must have/read for someone who owns/works on their Camaro?

Specifically I am looking for anything addresses how to assemble/work on the interior/dash. Anything that has wiring diagrams and addresses any about the body would also be good.

Thanks, Lee

agree to getting assembly manual, that covers everything Chevrolet did, NOT Fisher body

As important as the assembly manual are the factory (NOT Haynes, Mitchell, Motors or Chiltons) shop manuals

there are three the factory issued:

Car overhaul
(http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7915112866 shows both, they are CHEAP on ebay, make them ship them "Media Mail" they won't cost more than $5 to ship)

deals with rebuilding all things mechanical-trans, engine, rear end, etc

Car service manual

deals with MOST items from a r&r and service (not overhaul) issue

does not give tolerances for rear axle play or the like, does tell how to adjust the front wheel bearing, replace the brakes, tune the car, etc MOST of the items you would undertake yourself

Fisher Body-

deals with the cowl back, all items Fisher Body built. Does NOT cover the instrument panel but DOES cover the doors, glass, trim, etc

all these can be found CHEEEP on ebay, buying a used one will not detract from the function of the manual

They are still avail new from the printer for ~ $60 each and the Fisher Body manual is repo'd for $25

You don't buy them from Rick's, you get them directly form the source, helm.com

buy a used one off ebay for much less

Gentlemen, thank you for the quick response. I will certainly start scrounging for the suggested manuals. I guess Ebay will become my friend.

I watched ebay for "1969 Chevrolet Manual" (not "Camaro") I ended up getting them for under 10 each.

I just got a new basket case project car (V8 Corvair)that I have no idea where all these parts go. I bought 3 manuals and read them all BEFORE diving in. I took them on vacation with me and read them sitting on a beach in the sun. You have no idea how much you will learn from them. When I got back I was able to whiz through
the different parts knowing what and where they belong.

try searching 69 Chevy and 69 Chevrolet and 1969 Chevy too, no telling how they will be listed

$10 each is a great price
