Are there any risks or disadvantages in installing a used original windshield versus a new production? Thanks.

My thoughts are if your into originality, check date code to match your car. Otherwise, I'd go with a new windshield.

Your nighttime driving will improve due to less scratches.

I went with new on my '68 convertible. One of the best improvements I've done to the car. I don't see how how any 30+ year old windshield could ever have the clarity of a new one.

pilkington classics sells new with the correct LOF logos and date codes. I bought mine from a company in Minn or Wisc (can't remember) I got the name from this site, so if you are interested, do a search. about 12-18 months ago.

BTw expect to pay an extra 200 for correct glass, and then still have to pay to get it installed.

Here is the thread when I replaced mine, as the guys have said, the new is just like looking thru 'nothing', its so clear and clean when there are not rock or sand marks or wiper lines. Get new, its not that expensive and they do the date coding for you too. good luck

If you are not interested in the date coding, a new windshield should run about $120.00. If your car has tinted glass go with a tinted replacement. If not use a clear one. It will look a little odd duck to have the windshield one way and the rest of the glass another. I replaced the windshield and backlight (rear glass)in the 69 for $210.00 installed at my house.
