Hello,
I'm trying to verify the existance and use of a
starter heat shield on the 69 Camaro SS 396. One
famous author mentions it by part name, but I have
never seen one on an original car. I have gotten
answers all over the map as to whether or not they
were actually used "in the day". The Vette guys
tell me that the 69 BB Vette got a stainless steel
shield, and that the Camaro/Chevelle may or may
not have gotten a different stainless steel shield
itself. See the reason for my confusion?
This sort of reminds me of the number of
"restored" 69 Camaro's I've seen with the
passenger side view mirror. A part is listed, but
none were ever installed from the factory. When I
restored my SS in 1980, I made the same mistake!
I soon after took it off and cried over dilling
holes in my NOS passenger side door skin.
So, if any members here can verify this 69 heat
shield, please help me. Also, post any and all
pictures if you can possibly do so.
Lastly, I know that there is a Chevy part listed
today. I bought one just to be safe, but it is
not technically correct from what I am told.
Thanks for your assistance.
