: '67-'68 header panel and trunklid emblems, which is correct?

I'm actually more of a Chevelle guy so pardon my ignorance, but I do collect 1:18 diecast cars avidly and I have a lot of Camaros in my collection. Of all the '67s and '68s I have there isn't much consistency on which header panel/trunklid emblems are used. I suppose some are correct and some are not.

I've seen two styles:

CAMARO
by Chevrolet

and

CHEVROLET
Camaro

I suspect one is correct for '67 and one is correct for '68 but since things are never quite that simple much of the time, can someone describe for me the proper useage of these badges?

TIA!

I kept getting different advice on those darn things, I would see one car with it on the front passenger side only, or the driver side only, or the rear only. It finally took an original assembly manual to find out "Camaro by Chevrolet" went on BOTH the front and back, driver front and passenger back (without a spoiler)

right.... and it goes IN FRONT OF the spoiler if there is one!! (kinda weird)

So would trunk emblem placement be one way to tell if spoiler was a factory option, if trunk lid was original?

It seems so....but it also seems that the factory changed their minds on things like that from time to time during the production run.
If anyone has an assembly manual from the factory, it makes for some interesting reading; as many of the assembly procedures or items to be put on the car have "CANCELLED" stamped across them and the date. The cancellations went on right through the year.
I think many times they would delete an item to save a few dollars, who knows....
My '68 car was made in Aug of '67 and I have found many '67 parts on it! (just using up the leftover parts I guess!)

On factory spoilers, the deck lid emblem was moved forward. However, the original holes were present under the spoiler, and weatherproofed with a greyish foam tape.
For dealer installed, or home-installed, the emblem was often left off.
