View Full Version : dynoed my daily driver pickup today
camcojb Sep 9th, 04, 06:33 PM Of course I picked the hottest day to do it on, but I was already there with a friend dynoing his Camaro.
Just made one pull; made 457 rwhp and 549 rwtq. Truck is an 03 Lightning with a KB blower and alcohol injection. It was so hot out that it was making 2 psi less boost than normal. Started the pull at 13 psi and had hit 15.5-16 psi at redline.
Can't wait to try it in cold weather; it is literally a night and day difference in performance.

CFunK Sep 9th, 04, 06:39 PM Great numbers!
Ain't no way in hell that thing can hook a decent '60 time. smile.gif
camcojb Sep 9th, 04, 06:43 PM Actually it does hook pretty well. Just swapped to Nitto 305/45-18 drag radials. HUGE difference in traction, I'm actually quite surprised how it launches.
I do have a new set of slicks though!

BPOS Sep 9th, 04, 08:22 PM I just dyno'ed my daily driver tonight - a 1996 Fuji "Team" road bike with Shimano 105 8 speed. 0 RWHP and 0 RWT. Hooks like a bastard, though, esp with my fat a$$ on it - no tire spin at all!! ;)

jethro Sep 10th, 04, 03:57 AM Hey, I like Nitto 555's a lot, and am going to install a set when I get to a position to do a swap out. THey wear awesome for drag radials, handle well, and had good traction for launch.
rojo Sep 10th, 04, 04:33 AM That's one bad pickup. graemlins/thumbsup.gif Gotta be a blast driving it around town daily. Now if I had something like that.... I'd love to be at a red light when the guy in a Bimmer or Vette pulls up in the next lane that runs out just ahead and he knows it but thinks he's got you covered. Oh what fun that would be. :D
68ragtop Sep 10th, 04, 05:00 AM Hook it up with naked lady mudflaps and a class 3 hitch...
The mudflaps would keep the rubber off'n the paint..
Nice ride... feraferd
Of course I'm kiddin'
camcojb Sep 10th, 04, 05:13 AM Thanks guys. I know, it's a Ford but I originally ordered a new SS Chevy pickup and was very disappointed in the performance. The SS was really nice to drive though. The Lightning is a lot more fun to drive (my opinion). And actually you'd have to blame Clill8567 (who is definitely a Chevy guy!) for letting me drive his Lightning last year.
If Chevy comes up with something that will compete in a truck, I'd probably buy it.

Jeff H Sep 10th, 04, 05:58 AM Yeah, the current SS is a joke. The Joe Gibbs pickup is closer to what Chevy should build and call an SS, but it still uses the smaller engine which limits it's performance with the supercharger.
Gary L Sep 10th, 04, 01:59 PM I bet you can hardly wait to get in your truck and drive to work. ;)
