hello everybody; I'm new on this site so go easy on me. I'm buying what I believe to be a 69 ss 396 Camaro. Since I would consider myself fairly new to purely original Camaros, What would you be looking for to authenticate this car, keeping in mind that it is an early non x coded car, without any paperwork whatsoever? I have some idea as to what to look for, I just wonder if any of you out there know any other tell tail signs. The car is a project and in original (non restored) condition with non original engine, original Muncie m-20 trans, and 12 bolt. Any help would be appreciated.

First off - WELCOME to Team Camaro graemlins/beers.gif

One of the best features of this site (IMHO) is the "search" function!
Just typing in '1969 SS 396' and doing a search of the "Tag Team" forum will get you 3~4 pages of past posts discussing much of the information you will need to tell your car from a "fake".
Here is just one example of a search result - http://www.camaros.net/forum/ultimatebb.php/topic/6/2894.html#000001 - there are hundreds more.
If you pick the 'Header' title for a group of forums the search will be performed in ALL the listed sub-forums in that header!

Again - welcome to the site and let us know if you run into wierd things during your checking you can't find an answer to.

Welcome!
If your Camaro is Canadian then GM of Canada's Vintage Vehicle Services will have all the info that you need to authenticate your car. smile.gif

Hi Al; this car is from Texas, so no such luck there. You know, I don't really need to document this car for resale purposes, but to just replace a big block car that I used to own in the past, which has huge sentimental value. I guess just knowing that it originally was a B/B car would be enough. What would you look for? thanks Dom.
