The large diaphram in my windshield washer pump is torn. Can someone recommend a person out there who rebuilds these things? Or sells the diaphram? The washer pump is original to a 68 camaro and it's different than later model ones.

Jonesy, thanks!. Unfortunatey I have one of those kits. The diaphram in my pump is larger. I'd say it's about 1" od and shaped like a cone. I've been to all the parts houses around here and they all sell the rebuild kit shown in the link. Also, they all sell replacement pumps but they are the 69 and later pumps, not the 67/68 pump. I even looked in Hemmings without luck. Does this mean I need to use a later pump or buy used?

Hey Jonesy, talked with these guys today. Pretty impressive. They are very helpful. It appears the pump for 68 is slightly different than later year models of Camaro, Nova, Omega, Appollo, Ventura and others with non hidden wipers of the same era. The pump is about 1/2" shorter in length and the bolt holes are not in the same location for the two pumps. In fact, I went to the local auto parts this weekend and ordered a motor and pump. The pump looked just like a 69 pump, but when I tried to match the pump to motor, the bolt holes didn't line up. I had a 68 motor and housing and a 69 pump. I'm not too sure anyone really knows the difference. Most people probably drill new bolt holes and use the readily available pump. To make a long story short, the Clock Doc will rebuild and make like new. I thought about redoing myself but I wasn't comfortable opening the rivets neatly to grease the gears. All other issues would have been a snap.

there also is a difference on 69 RS motors but only a few extra holes drilled in the back edge to accomodate the RS headlight washer solenoid. But there are 2 different part numbers for 69 washer motor assemblies. smile.gif
