What's the best way to buff out a set of old chevy aluminum valve covers? Straight polish? For some reason I think these are beyond just alum. polish. Any thoughts would be great.

Start with 600 and work your way up to 2000 grit. Then just buff as normal. spideynut Nov 29th, 04, 02:53 PM That does'nt sound too bad. Should I use water? What polish do you recommend? Thanks Brad 69X11SS Nov 30th, 04, 07:29 AM Wet sand 600 up to 2000 grit. Then buy yourself some Heavy Metal Polish. One bottle of green (course) and one bottle of blue (fine). That stuff works miracles. I use the green on my Fenton slotted 15 x 11 and 14 x 8 wheels on the 75 Camaro. Those wheels have machine marks in them. The polish gets down in the grooves and cleans them up to show quality. I use the blue on the TTII's on the 69. That stuff also has a wax in it so when you are done it slows down the oxidation. You can pick it up at most major truck stops or order it at www.heavymetalpolish.com (http://www.heavymetalpolish.com) Good Luck. |
