were the casting # on the back of the fender
emblems different from left to right or were
both 3949681-2

Originally there was a RH and a LH. At some point only one was serviced as both p/ns.

Worthy of note, '68s were not same as '69.

I have a Z/28 emblem sitting here on my desk with part no. 3943255 LH. I removed this emblem from a wrecked Z in the 70s

I am trying to find out what year that number 3949681-2 belongs too.

69??

I have two of them out of original package and without caps to install

3949681 and 3949682 are the original 69 production part numbers for the front fender emblems LH and RH respectively.
