View Full Version : AM/FM radios for 69
ChevyThunder Dec 21st, 04, 08:46 PM I already posted this in the Electrical section and have gotten no reponse so I will try it here .I am not at all up to speed on the radios available for the 69 Camaro's so my question is as follows...
I am trying to determine what radio I have. I know the "blue light" seems to be a rare option and I don't believe that is what I have but I saw a picture of one in a 69 Z/28 on ebay item # 4513353515 and my radio looks exactly like it. I have not put any power to this car in the week I have owned it so I have not had it on but it is an AM/FM radio..says stereo on it , has the little window in the top right hand corner . There is an additonal piece above the glove box and it has speakers in the kick panels and two in the rear deck. Is this enough for someone to tell me what optioned stereo I have ?
Thanks , Van
Hylton Dec 22nd, 04, 04:27 AM What is the part number on the radio? If it has the little square blue light on the right hand side and says stereo on it, it is a blue light am/fm. Basically, the blue light am/fm radios were stereo and the non blue light am/fm were not stereo.
ChevyThunder Dec 22nd, 04, 07:01 AM The part number on the radio is 91BFM2 and the piece above the glove box is 91FMP11 .
When I shot a picture of the main unit I can see a blue rectangle in the right hand upper corner..The flash brought it out. As I said I have only had this car a week and have not put a battery in it yet.
So it sounds like I have a blue light then...
Thanks for your help

DjD Dec 22nd, 04, 07:31 AM Van - You got replies to your other post this morning confirming it was a blue light.
Hey, where are you in NorCal?

ChevyThunder Dec 22nd, 04, 08:21 AM Thanks for all the replies everyone.
When I bought this car the stereo was never mentioned and all my other cars have either AM or AM/FM mono set ups .I noticed the "stereo" script on the radioand thought..could it be ? It appears this stereo was used sparingly in 69 so that is kind of cool.Missing the rear speakers , though so need some help there if anyone has any leads , but the factory wires are still intact as are the kick panel speakers , though they look like they lost a battle with a few moths.
Dennis , I am in the San Mateo/Burlingame area . I just hooked up with the Nor Cal Club in San Jose a few weeks ago and you may be the same Dennis that emailed me this morning about the forum...?
Thanks again everyone , Van
DjD Dec 22nd, 04, 08:43 AM Hi again Van, yes I'm the same person. Mind if I share your pic's with the folks on the site here? If it's ok I'll host them and stick them in a thread in Bench Racing tonight. Then you'll have to tell everyone how and where you found your car. Have you been to any of the Camaros Limited Nor~Cal meetings yet? If so I'm one of the two guys that stand at the front of the room during meetings. ;) Next ones Jan 7th if you can make it.
drdave69 Dec 22nd, 04, 09:10 AM What do the rear speakers/grills look like? I haven't seen any. Were the grills chrome?
ChevyThunder Dec 22nd, 04, 11:29 AM Dave ,
This car was in a tow yard and I believe a few items were pifered during that time. The rear seat, speakers and shelf were missing. The other items missing were the rear spoiler(orig. spoiler car, one of the two bars in the trunk is bigger) The air cleaner (flat hood car) and the shifter ball. Otherwise everything is there down to the complete Air Pump system. The winshield was there but the previous owner's son broke it with a brick..windshield survives for 34 years and the guy brakes it .....
Dennis ,
I have not been to any events with the NorCal club yet but look forward to doing so in the near future. I am trying to set up a Photobucket page but haven't quit figured it all out yet. You are welcome to post the pics I sent you and thanks for your help.
