Did all 69 Z/28's (excluding JL8 cars) come equipped with two piece rotors? Is it true that late cars had a different one piece rotor (same as a 70 model)? My car was built first week of August 1969. It was one of the first with the "reset" BDY number on the cowl tag.
I have two piece rotors right now, but know for a fact they are not original to the car (long story).
Does anyone have a definitive answer on this? If my car did (or could have) come with one piece rotors, how do I identify the correct ones?
Thanks,

Hello Lynn and welcome to this site. My 02D has 2 piece rotors. I assume they are original. They just look like it. I don't know if there are casting marks or not. I will look while the front end is apart to see if i can find any. graemlins/waving.gif

Thanks Gary:
The story I got was that they changed to one piece rotors sometime after June, 1969.

Hi Lynn, My survivor 06A 1969 RSZ28 has the 2 piece rotors, they are original, i have owned the car since 72. In fact it still has the original GM brake pads ( a little thin ) and rear shoes. The car was built 2nd week of June. All June cars are 06A, maybe some other TC members will chime in on the rotor question.
Just my .25 worth

Finally got to the rotors. The only number I could find was 10881 on both sides.

Thanks for the response guys. I have a couple of feelers out on this one and will update if I find out the rotors were changed after June.

My 06A Z/28 has the original 2-piece rotors and "v-back calipers" as well.
