I have the original wiring harness from my 68 RSSS. It seems to be in good shape but is rather dirty. What is the best way to clean it? Thanks!

You can buy non-adhesive tape to rewrap it from parts venders and I think the even have the plastic push-in connectors you wrap in the tape to attach it to the radiator support. Alot of people wont reuse an old harnes because of the heat of the engine, it causes the insulation on the wire to become brittle which could cause a short or ground and engine fire. I agree. I'm in the prosess of putting a 21 circut wiring harness in my 70. I have the entire interior out so it shouldn't be too hard. I'm not only redoing it for safty purposes, but I have stuff like an electric fuel pump, aftermarket gauges and other things that I want wired in right not just spliced in. I got the harness from ebay from a seller that sells them for $99 outright. They are identical to painless wiring. Great quality wire that is marked with the application. Lights, ingintion and so on. Its the way to go unless you're going for a complete stock upgrade. shoddy_F-body Jan 2nd, 05, 02:11 PM http://www.wiringharness.com/ Only way to go. graemlins/thumbsup.gif Unreal Jan 2nd, 05, 02:50 PM I was planning to reuse my old dash harness, because replacement ones cost $350 or so. Then I stopped along side the road to see a GTO for sale, and saw what a short can do to an interior. Made the $350 seem cheap!!! |
