I need take my car to the shop and am looking at just hooking my mufflers up directly to the headers as I dont have the rest of the pipes yet...
Will this burn the mufflers out or should they be ok . (flowmaster 40's)

It'll be fine, the question is can you hook it up right behind the headers. More than likely the collector will be too close to the floorpan to fit a full muffler, more room farther back. good luck.

Clearence would be the issue, I had an old Willys with a 69 HO Corvette 327 in it with full length hookers. Came right of the collectors with some turbo thrush's and a quick 90 out to the side. Only problem I ever encountered was burning my knee on the end of the pipe.

I think you'll be fine if your just running to the muffler shop, but may have some fitment issues with the mufflers. Also how far of a drive? More than once did I run up the road with open headers (ie:fun :D ) but it was only about 5miles.

Currently the car has these "purple hornies " on it and it just looks tacky..... I think i will just try to find some used flowmasters or dynomax mufflers somewhere for cheap until I am ready to put the system on.....

BTW, jegs or summit had flowmaster and dynomax mufflers on clearance. Cant remember how much.Good luck :)
