I have chemically stripped the rear qtrs, tail pan, and filler panel on my 69. Now what can I put on it to keep it from rusting? I plan on letting a painter prime it, so I'm just wanting to keep it from rusting until I get it ready to take to him.
Could I rub some thin oil on with a rag?

NO oil, the painter won't like that. Buy a qt. of PPG DX 579 metal cleaner, mixed some up, liberally apply it and let it dry. When the time comes for the painter to prime it, he can apply more DX 579 and wipe it off according to the directions.

I have some Jasco metal prep that is a rust neutralizer it says it is for new or rusted metal. I plan on etch priming my car then epoxy primer. Would this Jasco stuff mess all that up.
Another question, this self etching primer that is sold at parts stores in rattle cans, is it any good to use in my situation. Or would I be better off going another route?
Like I said earlier, I don't plan on priming my car. But I thought if this rattle can self etch was any good I would put a thin coat on to protect the metal.

I'd be worried about a chemical reaction from leftover metal prep. Stick to one brand of paint products thru out the job

Ask the guy who is going to paint it... what he prefers
If it were me I would just etch primer it with a gun
Also I think rattle bomb ecth = junk I would never prime over rattle bomb ecth, without stripping it and putting on real ecth primer

I haven't decided on a painter yet. So I can't ask him what he prefers. I guess I could etch prime it myself, but like you said depending on who paints it they may use different brands than what I would use.
I need to put something on it to keep it from rusting but don't want to cause the painter(whoever I get) any problems.
Thanks.

Are the shops in your area using Dupont® or PPG® products? High end shops may use Glasrut® ,Sikkens® ect... Maybe you can narrow it down that way . Then go to a body shop supply house and use that brand...
