I just bought a new headlight switch and i cant seem to get the pull knob back in the switch.

I've done it a few times and it worked fine, but for some reason it wont go now.

Stupid question i know, but i searched for it and found nothing.

btw, its a 68.

You might press the button at the top, this may release the locking detent to allow insertion.

I know the button is used to remove the knob, but, may be for some reason, you would need it for insertion.

If the above doesn't work, you might see if something is amiss in the hole.

With the new switch out of the dash and in your hand, you should be able to see the small metal "retainer" that holds the shaft in the switch. Push on the button and insert the shaft. Look to see what is not moving properly. I took my original aprt to clen it and found there is very little to go wrong with the switch and tab.

I had the same problem when I replaced mine. I called where I purchased it from and was told the new ones were just hard sometimes and I should just push harder. I tried that, and it worked. Isn't repro quality great.
