Greeting,,new guy to the forum,,thanks for letting me in.

What is the best way to strech the rear quarters on a 67 RS? I just purchased a back halfed car and am having some tire rub issues that can only be cured by streching the rear quarters about 3". I have talked to a few people and the either dont want to touch it or are to busy to do so. I know its just a matter of cutting and tack welding in some new panels, but I was wondering if someone would have an idea on some reading on the subject.

I already have the new quarters, but am looking for some help on the suject before I start cutting. I dont want to just roll the factory lip in to clear the tire, I dont think that would do the trick anyways.

I tried a search and nothing came up.

Thanks for any help!

Welcome to the New Team Camaro. Just bide your time as the answers to your questions are here somewhere. On stretching the rear wheel wells, it is a matter of determining how much you need to open them up and a little slicing and dicing. Since I am not very knowledgable about this, I will let someone else answer your question. It does take some skill and it can be done at home. You may also search or "Google" for some info. Perhaps a body work how to book would help.

I have done the 1/4 stretch two different way. One used new 1/4 panels and the other used the 1/4 repair panels, both front and rear. In both cases, the original 1/4 panels were in good shape. The bottom line is, you will have to split the original 1/4 panels at the top of the arc. How high you cut will depend on the tires you intend to use. You will then have to cut the original wheelwell area from the original 1/4 panels. You will wind up with a rectangle shaped opening. Move the front of the original wheelwell forward and the rear backward to make the required opening.. You will have an area at the top of the wheelwell that is still open. Use the original 1/4 panel wheel opening to fill in that area. Weld everything up and finish the repairs. A cut off wheel makes the needed cuts a lot easier.

Thanks for the replies everybody! well the process has started after looking and measuring and scratching the forehead. " Please god dont let me screw this up!". I have the left side marked and cut out and am now stich welding the pieces in place. I left the right side intact for reference. So far, its not that bad,,you just have to make sure to make a good line in order to have the pieces lined up right.
