by the way, what in the world does the SGS button do in my '97? something to do with the traction maybe?

I am going to guess you have an automatic trans? Is it a V6 powered car? The SGS is for Second Gear Start. Under slick conditions, you can make the trans start in second gear so the tires don't spin as easy.

that's kinda what I had in mind. it really does help in the FL rain. but it shuts off on its own. weird?
