If I repalce my externally regulted alternator with an internally regulated alternator, do I lose the "GEN" light on the dash? I am tackling the wiring issues on my new car forst, and want this stuff right the first time, if possible.:)

Also, if I go with the internally regulated, what wires can/should I remove from under the hood.

No, you don't. The easy way is with a couple of adapter plugs, which are buyable, I think from Ricks, or check madelectrical.com.

one converts the alternatopr connection from I I to - - and the other eleminates the regulator by plugging in in it's place. The gen light will still work.

The harder but neater way would involve splicing the wires inside the harness and retaping.

If you go to a one-wire alternator, then I think you will loose your light. But if you use something like a CS130, then you'll keep the light and gain remote voltage sensing. Check out the tech reference on this web sites home page for CS130 info. There is also a website (madeelectrical me thinks) that is referenced multiple times in the archives. They've got some pretty helpful articles that explain it all quite well.
