Question:

How do you tell if your windows are tinted. I.E. is there a code on the window that identifies this. I ask because it it hard to tell if my current windows are tinted or clear.

Most likely they are clear but I have come to find out it is better to ask the simple question, rather than buy a replacment glass only to find out I now have 3 clear and 1 tinted windows.

Easy way to tell glass color put a piece of white paper behind it. stock tinted glass looks lite green with paper behind it and clear looks white. I think stock tinted glass says "soft ray" on it by the date code(can't remember exact phrase used)

JJ which piece is tinted? I am looking for the soft ray tinted, by the way was standard I believe on all factory A/C cars, on the passenger door, mine is chipped.

Not sure if it is tinted. My car is in the paint shop and I am trying to get all my ducking in a row so when it comes out I can get it together. I need to replace the drivers quarter window and want to figure out if it is tinted glass in it now or clear.

The white paper (or business card) test is a good way, and tinted glass will have "soft ray" by the logo and date code.

I had always thought that A/C cars came with tinted glass, but I've read/heard conflicting information on A-bodies, so I'm not sure about F-bodies either. I'm sure someone here knows

Tinted glass was a stand-alone option, not connected to or included with A/C; if you wanted it, you had to order it as a separate option. :)

What code does that show as on the trim tag? My 69 X77 car has tinted windows but I don't recall anything on the trim tag denoting this.This is the first I'm hearing of a code for tinted glass.
