: Getting ready to order from Global West??
Mikey007 Mar 30th, 05, 08:35 AM Hello all I am getting ready to order from Global West and wanted to make sure I was making a good decision in ordering direct from them. Here is the list of stuff I am getting for my 67 Camaro
Upper A-arms with Delrin bushings: Part #CTA-79A Price $499.00
Lower A-arms with Delrin Bushings: Part #CTA79H Price $649.00
Qa1 Pro Coil Kit: Part # GMP-13 Price $459.00
Have any of you guys ever ordered direct from them? Do you have any suggestions where I should order from, or where I might be able to get a better price?
Also I am from Canada, do you think they would ship through USPS? I tried to email them at gwsuspen@pacbell.net but all I get is mail failure.
Please let me know your opinions and thoughts! Thanx alot
Mike
SICKT9 Mar 30th, 05, 08:45 AM The list looks good. Since you are in Canada like me what about Speed Tech? I am happy with mine. Only thing is they look like they have slowed down their service since the move.
I ordered the GW rear shackle kit from NPD, price was good BUT by the time I received it the cost was crazy with the exchange, taxes, brokerage, UPS fees etc....
Good luck!
davidpozzi Mar 30th, 05, 08:49 AM I have heard by the time the parts get to Canada they are MUCH more expensive due to import restrictions. Make sure you investigate that.
Global West has great parts though.
Be sure to get their upper shafts with your upper arms, stock camaro shafts don't work unless they are the type that have nuts on the ends.
I'd also take a look at Speed Tech since they are a Canadian company.

Mikey007 Mar 30th, 05, 09:54 AM Thanx for the replies fellas. I won't let them ship with ups as the brokerage fees are insane! As for speed-tech I have heard alot of negatives about there service and rather spend a little more for speedy shipping and better customer support.
David the arms I'm getting come fully assembled with the billet cross shafts.
Does NPD give out any sort of deals?? Maybe they would be an option? Please keep the opinions coming!
Mike
GunnerV Mar 30th, 05, 12:37 PM I got the billet shafts from them directly, but I live in the states so YMMV. Very nice parts. I ordered over the phone and they were very helpful and knowledgeble. I heard that they take longer with there web site orders so it might be worth using the phone to order.
davidpozzi Mar 30th, 05, 03:17 PM I Emailed GW year before last, still waiting for a reply! :)
GW has had delivery/service "Issues" too, so I don't think one is better than the other. I've bought from both and had no problems, but heard the stories.
Year one is a dealer for GW parts and they have excellent service.
Do a search of the archives using "search this thread" then click on "Advanced, select the Suspension section to search, and you may pick up some info on how each company does. also on http://www.pro-touring.com

If you do call GW direct, only talk to the main guys, Doug (the owner) and I think - Steve, do NOT talk to the secretary.

Mikey007 Mar 30th, 05, 08:14 PM Well called Global West today and talked to a guy named Kevin, he said they ship with ups exclusively. I told him me dilemma with customs and the brokerage costs, and he landed giving me the name of a reputable Canadian dealer in Chilliwack B.C. Hotrods and Classics is the name! I called there and talked to them they were very helpful and are willing to ship the cheapest way. Still doing research for other sources and possibly a cheaper price.
They also mentioned that with a big block and big headers there could be a possibility of interference between the headers and upper control arm??? Anybody have experience with this? I can't see it happening. I have 2 1/8" headers and they needed to be clearanced for the steering box but thats it. David Pozzi or anyone else have you ran into this before?
Mike
davidpozzi Mar 30th, 05, 08:54 PM That's good news.
I haven't heard of header problems but it sounds reasonable since the BB headers are larger and come even closer to the A arms, especially if you crank in extra neg camber.
You don't want the bushings to get hot either, they can melt!

MickyT Mar 30th, 05, 09:55 PM The guys at Hotrods and Classics are good car guys. I would still consider Speed Tech however, I know they are having problems with meeting demand since attending the SEMA show however Todd is a a great guy to deal with.
68rs406 Mar 30th, 05, 10:22 PM i purchased some stuff from GW, nice guys, excellent products, but (and a verrry big but) parts delivery was a freakin nightmare. knowing guys had issues with them in the past, i specifically asked if stuff was in stock. i was told absolutely all parts in stock. well, when they didn't show up on the target date, i called, and lo and behold, some parts were still being made! this happened three more times, i was told it would be there, no call, no nothing, and when i called, got excuses. i finally called and got annoyed, not rude but very annoyed, with a person there, and it got sent out finally, over a month later! it was a major bad experience. i'm just glad the parts were quality, or i'd really have been bent.
your best bet is get them from somebody that has them, in stock, imo. dealing direct is futile, unfortunately.
bwarren Mar 31st, 05, 06:17 AM I ordered from GW and had the same delivery issues as well. I also was sent the wrong QA shocks (returned them) and am still waiting on a credit. The REAL QAs didn't come for 6 weeks!! I finally cancelled the order with GW (for the shocks) and ended up buying them from Summit - who was also cheaper. I WANTED to buy everything from GW (help the vendor that helped me), but unfortunately it didn't work out. Great products!!
davidpozzi Mar 31st, 05, 01:07 PM I'm closing this thread since we don't allow vendor bashing.
Last year it was Global West, this year it's Speed Tech.
There's a bit of bashing going on about Speed Tech right now: http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=29180
All I can do is say to not expect to recieve your parts right away from either of these companies at this time.
