: Decided On Wheels And Tires 17x8,17x10
mark67ss Mar 30th, 05, 12:43 PM Well Finally made a decision on the wheels and tire combo for my 69 convertible. I am going with the Famosa dished fatlip 17x8 in the front with 235/40/17 in the front and the 17x10 with a 285/40/17 in the rear. Talked to Jon at Budnik and he told me that the 17x10 would fit the stock rear wheel well on my car. Has anyone else used a 17x10 in the rear of their car with a 285 tire? How does it fit?
Mark
HOT OHC Mar 30th, 05, 11:33 PM I would go with 245/45 up front for a better balance to the rears. 40's are an inch shorter. 285's on the rear will probably fit. Your '69 has more fender room than my '67.
Pic is a little distorted due to wide lens. Will lower rear a bit more.

sixd8rs Mar 31st, 05, 05:14 PM I agree on the 245's. I like the 285/40 idea. I just put a set on the back of my 68. Just a shade taller than the 275's. A 10" rim is going to be close though.
phoenixdawg Mar 31st, 05, 08:02 PM I went 17x9.5 with 275/40 in the rear and the fit is really good, you could actually go 18, 10 inch rim will be close. I have a friend who has 18x9 with 275/40 and he really could no go anymore.
ss dave Mar 31st, 05, 08:32 PM Hey HOT OHC I like the "dish" on your wheels but i can't make out the brand. What wheels are those?
ss dave Mar 31st, 05, 08:41 PM OK, let me guess BC Smoothie?
HOT OHC Apr 1st, 05, 08:16 PM OK, let me guess BC Smoothie?
Yep.
BuddyP Apr 3rd, 05, 08:21 AM HOT OHC, is your car lowered are is that stock ride height? If you lowered it how low did you go? What is the backspacing on your rear wheels and how much distance do you have between the inner fender well and your tire?
fast Apr 6th, 05, 01:13 PM what bs on a 10" rim?
and hot ohc, using standard backspacings?
lets see more pics of your bird (have a '68 original sprint6 in the garage, in pieces )
HOT OHC Apr 6th, 05, 09:43 PM BS for the rear wheels are 5.75".
2" lowering block in rear, will be lowering further with new "drop" leafs.
Front has QA1 coilovers with a coil cut off. Not sure how much lower it is than stock. My car has not been stock height since I bought it in 1980.
Here is a pic for ya fast.
