Is a cam with .510 too much lift for flat top pistins??..350 tunnel ram 4speed

That would depend on several different things including the type of heads you have. Generally speaking, the duration of a cam will have more of an effect than the lift when it comes to fitting a motor, with some exceptions like Vortec heads, spring heights, etc.
If you list your complete engine package, I'm sure someone will answer your question.
