just behind the front wheel spindle on the frame there is two verticle welds and one horizontal all about two inches in length. It looks like a bracket was cut off there or something. Any ideas what that could be ?

got a pic? what year car ?? (67 by your handle??)
I bet you have a 68 or 69 sub-frame and your car is a 67
the bump stops are mounted different.... 1 style has the rubber bumper on the lower A arm and the metal stop on the sub-frame the other years the bump stops are in the reversed postion

considering the pile of parts that it came with- metal seat backs, 69'calipers, headers that don't fit, narrow rear seat, misc.molding(probably mopar) well I'll just stop there I'm sure you get the point it wouldn't surprise me if it were of a different year. Hell it probably came off a Cadillac.I'll try to get a pic up if I can figure out how .Thanks

Probably the bracket for holding the brake line. The rubber brake hose connects to it with a clip, and the hard line is then connected.
