: general 92 RS 350ci info
patrickjbateman Apr 3rd, 05, 01:13 PM I am buying a 1992 camaro rs with a 350 and an automatic tranny, its the anniversary edition, milage is around 72k I am paying $1200. It appears totally stock, fresh water pump, well maintained, its my bosses wifes car, an older woman she has never raced it or abused it in any way, the body is straight, there is a bit of rust on the metal framing of the rear window (hatch) and the clearcoat is fried.
My problem is I know very little about this car, what tranny did it come with? Why can't I find headers readily for it? are there any major problems with this model/year? recalls? I have spent a bit of time googling for info but have found nothing informative.
As this is my first post I would like to say hello and thanks in advance for any help, if I have broken any netticate rules, be gentle with me, I am a newb ;-)
bigpoppapump Apr 3rd, 05, 10:08 PM I have a 91 Z-28, and I am pretty positive that no RS came with a 350 the biggest motor under the hood was a TBI injected 5.0 (305). If its an automatic it has a 700r4 tranny and I forget what tha manual was.
Still thats a pretty fair deal for that car, but if u want it to be fast your best bet is to find another motor for it. Hope this helped bro.
patrickjbateman Apr 5th, 05, 03:14 PM Thanks for the info, I dont plan on making it fast until I have a second car, its gonna be an every day driver for a little while, in the eventuality that I do decide to make it fast It would be no more than a fun street car, if I can get it to run 14 flat I will be content for a little while. Seeing as my last two cars didnt have more than 100 horsepower I think I will be satisfied with the camaro stock, at least for a little while. I may spiff it up a bit with some paint and some wheels but that will be it for at least a little while.
GoodOldBoy78 Apr 6th, 05, 10:12 PM i think some of the 92 RS came with a 350 cause my buddy has 1 and he said it is completely stock i saw it and unless some1 was very good i think it is stock myself (the manual tranny for the 92 RS would be the T-5)
Jonesy Apr 6th, 05, 10:24 PM The 92 RS didnt come from the factory with a 350 engine, see below
