I was just wondering if this can be replaced, or if the whole column is trash now, also if it can be replaced how is that done. I put pics up on my webpage thats on my sig page 4, also if i were to go with somethiing like a flaming river what is involved with the replacement.

You mean the steering shaft that holds the wheel on? I can dig up a replacement shaft, they are not that hard to replace
If you go aftermarket then you have to make up a steering shaft with u-joints ect and sometimes a support bearing for the shaft. fab top (column drop)and firewall mounts and screw with the turn signal switch as well (sometimes- depends on brand)

if that's a straight column, i've got a center shaft out of a 69 you can use. if they will interchange. i know 68 and 69 columns are different.

i believe once you remove a circular snap ring the whole shaft will come out thru the bottom. measure it and let us know.

I didn't have time to do it yesterday but if i understand you correct there is a sincle shaft through the entire column, so this is the same part that connects to the rag joint?

actually it appears as one shaft but it is really two shafts pinned together with nylon plugs. in case of a front end collision the nylon pins break and one shaft slides into the other instead of the whole steering column hitting your face or chest.

but yes if the pins are intact the whole thing will come out as one piece.

1967 and 1968 steering shafts will interchange. Of course you must interchange standard (non-adjustable) shafts or tilt column shafts from those two years. 1969 and later shafts will NOT interchange back to 1967-68.
