I have a 79 Z with a T-10 4spd. When I bought the car someone changed it to a AT, (But that is no fun) I put it back to 4spd, But my shifter looks to be in the wrong place?? IT looks to be too close to the drivers seat.
The shifter basically come right out the side of the tunnel. (The Tunnel was all cut up be the prev owner). I'm Trying to Fabb in a new tunnel for the shifter. BUT!!!! With my new Fabbed Tunnel The is no way to adjust the Shifter linkages (The Dawl the goes in to the bottem of the Hurst shifter won't fit!) IT is like the Shifter is either too low or too high!
Does any body out there have a factory 2nd Gen Camaro with a 4spd? I need to know what your set up looks like.

The Shifter is a Supper Shifter 3
The Tranny is a T-10 Out of god know what (has the Nickle Alloy Gears though)

Sorry the Shifter is Hurst Supper Shifter 3. The Tranny is not orginal. It is some newer verson of a T-10 ( Has the Cast Front and Aluminum tail housing, But has the Nickle Alloy Gears).

If the shifter is not designed for your year/model, it could be out of position for your tunnel. Call the company with the part # and verify application.

The Super Shifter 3 was not designed to fit in the stock location. It is a drag racing shifter that has a short throw and straight linkages to reduce flex, enabling a more positive shift. I have one in my 75 with a Muncie. I cut the floor out around the shifter and then fabbed up a hump for the tunnel sp that you can use the dowl to adjust the shifter. Please do not forget to use the shift stops to prevent over shifting. A friend of mine didn't set them and he tore up a trans.

Thanks for the info, So basically I have a nice shifter in the wrong place! I will go ahead with my tunnel fab project. I hope I can get the carpet to fit right :)
