hi guys
does anyone know if there is such an animal as nylon inserted sockets ?
for putting on bolts etc so you dont mess up the finish or paint on them.
can you give me a link to a place i can buy them........canada preferibly, but the states also.

Brace yourself I priced a set two days ago with Mac tools it was 280 bills..but went 5/16 to 15/16 .

eastwood carries them as well as harbor freight. They are nylon inserts.

do you mind me asking did you see them in an eastwood catolog or on line?
i have a couple of eastwood catologs and havent seen them.......do you happen to have a part number by chance? :)
im looking for them in say 1/2 and 9/16

Harbor freight would be your cheapest bet, depending on how much you intend to use them.

California Car Cover Co. carries a similar thing. The whole catalog is way overpriced (and pretty much worthless to me, but I still get them in the mail), and they want $180 for a 9pc Std set. Inserts are made of "dense woven fiberglass material".
Just a tip I've learned: Tap and die all of the bolts and nuts (captive/carriage nuts also) for the car. It makes assembly much nicer. You can run the bolts down by hand, and the less time that a wrench is on them, the less chance of marking them up. It may take a little while of your time, but it's worth it to me.
