My 67 RS/SS has a red deluxe interior, but the center dash panel is also painted red. Is this correct? As I read through the posts on the topic, I only see mention of black and woodgrain.

Is this correct? As I read through the posts on the topic, I only see mention of black and woodgrain. are you talking about the trim around the radio / heater ect? I have only seen black pebble grain or wood grain. birdman3r Apr 7th, 05, 06:32 AM Yes, the textured panel with the holes for radio and heater controls. If I need to take the paint off, what is the best method? Sorry, I remember reading that somewhere in here, but I can't seem to find it now. birdman3r Apr 7th, 05, 06:51 AM Here is a pic of it to clarify http://www.imagestation.com/album/pictures.html?id=2128427430&idx=1 sicsD8 Apr 7th, 05, 09:52 AM If your panel is textured, then it should be black. The only way to remove the paint on that panel would be to use a chemical stripper, as any abrasive would remove the texture as well. I'm not sure if the stripper would tarnish the surrounding metal though. I would probably just scuff and spray over the existing color if it isn't scratched or peeling. The other option would be to order a repro piece, although they are not quite as sturdy as the original piece. |
