Fast Jack Apr 7th, 05, 11:23 PM I have heard this system on a 70 nova with a 355 and it sounds great Here is the link. http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/cgi-bin/flowmaster/17104.html Jack kristofer Apr 8th, 05, 07:17 AM im looking too........i dont want it TOO loud, if there is such a thing ;) i am leaning towards ultra flos.. 68ragtop Apr 8th, 05, 04:49 PM I just popped my flowmaster kit in my ragtop last night... WOW, what a kit!! This kit was an absolute dream to install. But it's mighty loud... I'll most likley change to a turbo style muffler. I'll have to shim the Xmember just a tad in the front and shim the trans support just a smidge for it to be perfect. Flowmaster ought to supply X brace shims with their kits and let people know they DO fit ragtops.. Well.. that's my story.. Back to work now (on the car!!) PDQUICK Apr 8th, 05, 05:51 PM I have that flowmaster system that Fast Jack gave you the link for on my '68 coupe. It's tame at idle, has a nice growl when you shift gears, and roars like Jack the Bear when you floor it! I love the way it sounds, but when I have the wife and kids in the car and the windows closed it's a little on the loud side! Kind of a loud drone at cruise speeds that gets annoying after a while. My car runs a 400HP 327 with an electric fuel pump, 3.90 gears, and wide competition DOT tires so, even without the added exhaust noise it would still be fairly loud!! If you're looking for a stock replacement, then the Dynomax that 12run suggested is a better deal. The Dynomax has some fiberglass insulation in it that the Flowmaster is lacking. This will knock down some of the resonations that you get with the FM systems. Paul D. jimfulco Apr 9th, 05, 11:37 PM If you need a performance muffler, the Dynomax 17725 may not be for you. It's only rated up to 237hp before it begins to restrict flow. kristofer Apr 10th, 05, 12:19 AM i think i am going with the 17232.......where did you find that HP rating? mikemcguire Jun 24th, 05, 06:19 PM If you need a performance muffler, the Dynomax 17725 may not be for you. It's only rated up to 237hp before it begins to restrict flow. Where did you get this horsepower figure? I run this muffler AND resonators after it and put over 300 HP to the rear wheels!! Please respond with as much detail as possible. I'm an engineer with 25+ years experience in performance. |
