GoodOldBoy78 Apr 7th, 05, 09:27 PM sounds good guys thanks 67RS502 Apr 7th, 05, 09:56 PM To answer your message, and since you said you aint worried about emissions. I'd go with a carb, its alot simpler and will make way more hp then a TPI setup, which works differently, in a low rpm range and uses tq instead of upper rpm hp to make a car run. Dont get me wrong, there are plenty of 11 and even 10sec TPI rides out there, but it takes some learnin as the whole car combo must work with the low rpm tq motors. A carb and a RPM intake would be much easier, cheaper, simpler and would make for easy power. A 600cfm carb would be fine for a 305, and a cam swap would wake it up too, as the stock cam is only going to make power to about 4500rpm. If youre gonna stick a carb / intake on your 305, then choose parts you can reuse on a 350/383 that you can build later... SnakeEyes Apr 10th, 05, 10:28 AM I bet a GM replacement 350 carb motor would fit in, they have one with 290HP(also a 230 one I believe), you might need a little tweaking(maybe motor mount stuff), but that's a lot more power than you have now, and they are fairly priced with warranty's. go to GMPP swebsite and see them novaderrik Apr 10th, 05, 12:19 PM the only "tweaking" you'd need to do to put any old school carbed crate 350 in that car would be the fuel system. an option that no one has mentioned would be to get a 94 Caprice with an LT1 and swap that sucker in there. avoid the 95 and 96 cars because of the OBD2 computer that is a little bit harder to work with. you can buy a whole running Caprice cop car for around $2000 for a nice one. a little more work, maybe, than a carb swap- but a whole hell of a lot more fun. you'd just need to either get an AC idler pulley and live without AC- the pump will probably hit the frame using the B car brackets and the passenger side engine mount will have to be moved back- or get Camaro LT1 accessory brackets and just drop it in. |
