As long as he makes it to Seattle, we will gladly have a trailer and could find somewhere to drive, I mean park :D the car as he flys home. graemlins/beers.gif

Jim, I put my .02 in :D I think you will have electrical problems (no question in the poll about that) and back (spine) problems when you get there :D good luck! and have fun! It's the journey, not the destination.

LOL Kevin now why did you presume I will have wiring problems? Guess I need to pack my wire strippers and crimp tool and spare fuses and connectors. Wonder if I should tow a trailer with all my tools and spart parts off the shelf? :D
Yenco does the trailer have racing stripes on it?
SO far running around 50-50 on little problems. But they would happen just driving around town too, just further from home. Who cares, its a vacation and the journey is definately as much fun as the destination.

Hell yes!! You'd put a few thousand miles on it just puttin' around during the summer and it would be harder mileage!!

Throw some spare belts, hoses and a couple hose clamps in the trunk along with some wire, elect tape, connectors and a vom or at least a 12v test light. Then pack a few of the most common tools you might need and a couple qts of oil and if you have the room a antifreeze container full of water. A pair of coveralls and rubber gloves will keep you clean if you do need to use the tools and a cell phone is a good idea too...

Bottled water in a soft cooler in the back seat and some granola bars just in case. Go prepared and you know you won't have a need to use anything. It's when you arn't prepared that stuff happens!! Might want to include a fire extinguisher and a first aid kit too!!

It's all about the Journey!!

That was VERY good advice Dennis! I will now say an old Irish prayer as my father might have said (rest his soul) "May you be in Seattle 1/2 hour before the devil knows you left Minn. ;) " I am guessing that you have kept up on ol' thunder real well, so I think you won't have any problems.
We are all rootin' for you guys who are driving so far to see our ugly mugs :D We just have minor details to put in place and then the games begin  So drive well gents, and keep 'em between the lines ;)

Good ideas there Dennis. I had quite a few of them already in a box, but going to add upper and lower radiator hoses and clamps. Got duct tape, elec.tape, socket set, racheting crescent set, eled.connectors, bunches of wire sizes, crimpers, strippers, need to pack some water now, rags, towels, PRIZES for drawing, :D I dont have size 18 winter boots for Jeff, bummer.
We are thinking of adding a day to our trip now too. Seems that Portland and then Sisters Oregon are just a day drive south where we can go up to McKenzie pass and commemorate my uncle who's last picture was taken leaning on the sign at the top before he went to the Phillipines and died in the death march of Battan. This is something I've always wanted to do and being so close, its time.
The journey with the memories will last forever.
The desitination is just a place to turn around and head back, making more memories.

Great idea Jeff, I was thinking of leaning on the opposite side of the sign, if its still there or its replacement, then edit the two together and then frame it.
Hmmm size 15 skates? Sorry all I have in stock are my size 14 hockey skates.

Bring on the Jokes Click! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

God speed on your trip - and tell your wife to think of it as relationship building - untold hours in the car talking to each other...

Yes you will have minor mechanical problems. The gas gauge will keep falling quickly towards empty making you stop at gas station more often. Then you will also experience the minor mechanical problems of a beautiful lady car you happily help. Don't let her ride in the car. Which brings up to my vote of you are still going to be married but in a world of trouble if you give any ladies a ride and they leave hair in the car. You will also not be banned for bad jokes.
Good luck and have fun.

Fan belts are the first thing to go on long trips..make sure they're very new. Also, alternators don't like long continuous usage. Be sure that's fairly new.

click
Aug 11th, 03, 08:06 AM
Ahead of you Panther, had my alternator rebuilt a month ago, but the spare belt is a good idea, added to the list now. Gosh maybe I can rent a moving van to haul all of this, my car and wife and let me sleep all the way. :D

I seem to recall you were waiting for the new rear springs to settle a little. This trip should take care of it with all that crap in the trunk. smile.gif

Click made it to Seattle with -1- minor Mech problem that was fixed and then another one that was fixed after he got to the Show in Seattle. I think he is due back in MN on Friday since he was staying a bit longer in the Seattle area to visit with family there. Got a chance to ride in his RS and that baby runs smooth and I doubt he will have any further problems with the exception of the RS wanting to turn into every Bar parking lot for that required engine cooling off period. Got to hate that when that happens, esp since you have to find something to do while the engine cools down graemlins/beers.gif graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Yep Im back and will post a trip event topic in a few days afer I get re-organized at home here.
I will post it in Bench so it will stay on top here, since the Seattle show thread will probably be mothballed soon in the Event section.
