I've installed CPP front and rear power disc set up(had front & rear manual drum)on my 69" Camaro, I've put new brake lines front to rear,I'm getting a spongy pedal. The front seem to have plenty of pressure when you bleed them, the back there not as much fluid coming out,I've ran a lot of fluid through them, their was a block that tied the front lines to the back lines, would that cause a problem if I didn't put it back. Also my brake light in the dash stays on,and another thing if anyone has the CPP set up I would like to see some pictures of the rear if anyone has any. Thanks

I hope you aren't talking about the proportioning valve. If you are, yes you need it.

It sounds like the pressure differencial valve in your combo valve is not centered. This causes the brake light to come on, and also for all the pressure to be directed to the front. To recenter the valve, CPP's instructions call for you to open the front bleeders (put tubing on them into collection containers, or you'll get brake fluid everywhere), leave the rear bleeders closed, and then slowly press the pedal with steady pressure several times until the light goes out. This should cause pressure to build on the back side of the valve and recenter it. I've seen cases where this has worked, and other times when it hasn't. When it hasn't worked, I've had to manually recenter the valve. If this process doesn't work for you, post back and I can tell you how to manually recenter the valve. Hope this helps.

No it's not the proportioning valve,I stated that wrong,it's the block thats right below the drivers door that ties two brake line together.

I pumped the brakes and loosened the front line to the master cylinder and got good pressure and fluidwhen I loosened the rear one just a little fluid came out does that mean the master cylinder is bad.I also got the dash light to go out with some emergency brake ajusting,Thanks for the help so far.

I'm not sure what that block below the driver's door is, but since you got the complete kit from CPP, I'm sure they included everything you need to make the system work. I recently converted my fronts over to discs (left the backs drum) with a CPP kit. I also replaced all the brake lines and I took that block out of the system, and it seems to be working ok, but I haven't got to completely test it out because I'm having booster problems.

That's good news that the brake light was just an adjustment problem on the E brake. So if you have your brake light wired to the combo valve, and the light is not on, the the pressure differential valve must be centered, so that's good...

If you loosen the brake line running into the rear of the master cylinder and are not getting much fluid pressure there when the pedal is pressed, I would guess that you might have air in the rear part of the MC. Did you bench bleed the MC before you installed it? It will definately need to be done, and maybe redone. I would start with that and see if you get any air out of that MC.

The block below the driver's door is the proportioning valve.

The 5-way block is a brakelight switch.

Pre 71 discs also had a seperate metering valve next to the master.

After 1971 they combined it all into one unit.
