Hi Guys - I'm looking at a 68 Big Block SS 396 Car.

It's essentially a survivor car with only 39k milkes on it. Interior all there, console with guages, tach in dash with clock in the center of tach. Matching numbers 396 engine (MR engine code 396/350hp I think) Supposedly original TH400 trans, has proper crossmember. No rust in floors, trunk or front fenders or doors. Left 1/4 was side swiped, right 1/4 has small (fist size) dent...no rust to speak of. Subframe nice, 2 piston brake calipers..power brakes, 12 bolt posi, blue (looks like lemans blue...not sure what '68s color was called), correct emblems, white nose stripe which turns and goes down doors. thin chrome 396 emblems inside the white nose stripe, "Camaro" script and SS emblem on sides. On SS emblem the two Ss where joined together. Big block heater core, 3 or four row radiator. Blacked out tailpan. SS Gas cap, multi-leaf springs. Vin was stamped on front pad. All smog stuff still there. All original tower clamps still on GM hoses. Spring-clip type battery cables. Black interior, all re-usable except door panels slightly warped. No rust in door jambs...Black vinyl top. Engine doesn't run, but does turn over. Would you pay 13k?

maybe, if I didn't already have my ride.
What's the nubmers on the cowl tag, not lemans blue if L2 which is teal blue with black top.
or LL which is teal blue top and bottom.
Do you have the protector plate?
Different number for LeMan's blue -
How much engine work needed?

If it's really a BB matching number car, in the end (if it were mine) I would figure that I could sell it for 25k. That's assuming an average resto, not a perfect 10k paintjob, etc.

Can you restore it for the difference between 25k (or whatever you think that it will be worth) and the purchase price? Of course leaving a little room to make a couple of bucks! :D

13K for an original BB car? Sounds like a no-brainer, but then that's just from your description... Sounds like a great deal compared to what I've seen locally going for way more!

I'd take that one sight unseen. Having all the parts makes all the difference. How could you go wrong at that price?

Unless it's been sitting in a field for 20 years,I don't even think that you have to ask if it's worth 13k.

Bill, I would say buy it, but heck, you've already got how many projects in the works? Do you really have time for another? Just kidding, sounds like a no-brainer to me also, if it's in the condition you described, it's worth it. What about documentation? Seeing as it's a 68 car, and those are the hardest to authenticate, documentation would be VERY important. Offer him 10K and see if he'll bite...... smile.gif

No Bill, you can't have it. You can only have 69's. Your not allowed to own anything else. tongue.gif graemlins/beers.gif

I look at it like this, when will you see another SS 396 car in that condition for that price or cheaper? It sounds like a great deal with all the options and mostly original condition.... graemlins/beers.gif
