Did all small block SS's have the SS 350 cas cap in 67 or did late model year cars have just the plain SS cap like the big blocks?

Thanks for the help.

The 33 350 emblems were changed to simply SS once the 396 option became available.

The only SS's were 350's when they first came out in 1966. They had SS-350 Badges on both the front grill and the fuel cap.
Along about the time the 396 was introduced in the 1967 Camaro, late Dec.66/early Jan.67, the front grill badging and the fuel cap were changed to just read "SS".
You then had to walk around the side to find out what engine it had - or pull back up to it at the next light and see what you just lost to... :)

Hope this helps, think more info is on this is at - www.camaros.org

edit: faster isn't always a good thing 'gunner' ;)

ps; I like the little 'edit' note thingy now!

Thanks for the replies. I thought that the SS 350 caps were used only until the big blocks came out but had seen several late production smallblock SS's that had the SS 350 caps, which made my question myself.

Thanks for the help.

I have a June build '67 SS 350. It had both an SS gas cap and SS grill emblem on it when i bought it used in '79. I bought it from a girl who got it as a graduation gift. I'm the second owner. I confirmed w/ Camaro guru Bob Harris who said "they ran out of the SS 350 stuff at the factory". :)

The actual switch over date is not known, but I can tell you that it was not Dec/Jan. More like sometime in March/April.

Daniel;

Thanks for chiming in on the switch over date.
Years ago I tried to tie this down as I had an SS350 without the grill and cap '350 lettering and wondered if it was correct.
I once spoke to a coworker at Van Nuys that had worked on the line since the mid 60's and he remebered them being switched "sometime during or after the holidays", he said the 'BOM' was notated for the change.
With the 396 going into production @ Dec. 66 along with the 350 I bet it could get confusing on the line with two trim packages.
Do you know of or have you heard of any 'screw-ups' with badging? Just curious.
Thanks again for clearing up the timeline - that one is going into my notes.
