Have a 68 camaro, and tring to get 10" on ET Drag tread to the ground. I run a 285/40/17 on the rear with a 17 x 9.5 wheel right now and was wondering if I relocate the shock, I can run a custom back space 15 x 10 rim in the rear. The 17 x 9.5 has a 5.5 back space right now and I know I'm out of room inboard. So I guess the 15 x 10 would have the same back spacing. Anyone try this before or I'm I kicking a dead horse?

I don't think you will have to worry about the shocks hitting your 17" tires/rims up top and I think the shock bottoms will tuck up inside the rims down below.

As for tire size, I ran old-fashioned L-60/14's that measured a modern 298/53-14 on 14" x 9" w/ 3.5" b/s Fenton Slotted mag's on the back of my car but had to raise the rear by using coil-overs! (I think I had about 1.5" between the tire bulge and the inner wheelwell wall)...

I figure if I would have had 4.75" or maybe 5.00" b/c rims they would have fit better??

AND L-60/14's are BIG DONUTS to me!!!

PS., and I still have them mounted up on the top shelf in my garage.
