View Full Version : A catastrophe, to say the least!
MAXIMUM69 Dec 21st, 04, 04:44 PM I went to visit my Pace Car at the paint shop today and saw something that brings a tear to my eye!!
For the last 15 months, the guy that has been painting my car has been working on a '78 Ferd pickup for a fella that obviously has more money than good sense. This truck is decked out to the nines with over $100K invested. The truck was finished last Saturday at which time the owner took it on its maiden voyage. Within 4 hours it was loaded on a rollback headed back to the shop after the owner smashed into a tree head-on doing more than $25K in damage! I am not a Ferd man, but I couldn't believe my eyes. The guys at the shop were heartbroken as they had put a lot of work into it and it shows(ed). Appearently, the 514 cubes of ferd power got away from him.
Guess Christmas won't be very happy in that household. graemlins/angry.gif graemlins/angry.gif graemlins/angry.gif

ZZ430DropTop67RS Dec 21st, 04, 06:19 PM I'm still trying to imagine how to spend 100 large on a 78 Ford pickup.
It really must be nice.

Joekool1234567 Dec 21st, 04, 09:04 PM Did he have them gold plate the truck? I could spend $100 grand and build 5 bad to the bone cars/trucks.
I once saw a car where a guy had $100 bills clear coated into the frame, body and other parts of the car and the paint was some wierd green gold flake/metallic color. Ofcourse when the guy smiled he also had excessive amounts of gold in there too. :D
MAXIMUM69 Dec 22nd, 04, 08:44 AM If you saw it you could belive it. It is a 4-door short bed truck that had the floors and cab corners rusted out of it. It has a custom-built 514 stroker engine with aluminum heads, fuel injection, etc. Cutsom built trannie and transfer case. custom diffs front ant rear. Full custom aluminum exhaust. The underside of the cab and box was prepped and painted BCCC before setting on frame. Six-inch lift.
The list goes on and on including high dollar sound system and over $5K in wheels and tires.
Codi Dec 22nd, 04, 08:50 AM At this rate, he won't be knee deep in greenbacks for long. I just love those who can afford to kill themselves. And a Ford no less!
MAXIMUM69 Dec 22nd, 04, 08:52 AM I've been watching the news for a story about a woman who killed her husband for wrecking his 100K dollar truck when it was less than 4 hours old!!
MrDanB Dec 22nd, 04, 06:30 PM We have this guy in our local Camaro club who has 100k into a 69 coupe car! He had all of the work done by top notch professionals who gave him a "good deal"...It is hugger orange with custom hugger houndstooth int, a built 502 crate engine, and every nut and bolt is brand new...I know that the day he picked it up from the shop he lost a bunch of coin, but he loves it and he almost always wins trophies for it.
Everyone has their own taste I guess...

JWA Dec 23rd, 04, 02:38 AM That is sad. I have a soft spot for those years of Ford trucks. I had a 75 4x4 (reg cab) with an 8 inch lift and 39.5 mickeys. The pig would go anywhere as long as a gas station was on the way :D . Those older crew shortboxes lived hard lives around here. Most were logging company crew trucks. I see a dark blue one from time to time that is nicely done. I hope they can fix it. Then I hope they give the owner some "education" before giving it back ;)
