View Full Version : Last Questions on Tires and Wheels
bullitt07 Apr 18th, 05, 10:41 PM Well, I think I've figured out my combo, I just want to verify with you guys that I will see no probs. I've checked the databases and posts here but I know my car sits a little lower than stock. I'm going with 17x8's on the front with 5" BS and 17x9.5's on the rear with 5.5" BS. For tires I'm going with 245/40/17's on the front and 275/40/17's on the rear. Am I going to hit any problems? Torq-Thrust II's are the wheels I want, anyone have any recommendations for cheaper places to order them online. Also ordering tires online, anyone know cheap tire places? Thanks

Not sure on a cheap place for wheels. But for tires, check out www.tires.com and www.tirerack.com .
trex70 Apr 20th, 05, 11:33 AM The tire rack has the Firestone wideoval and it is a great tire. I think they were $121 per tire, but you will have shipping charges and then have to have them balanced somewhere. I would try some local places that may have them or any tire in stock. The Money saved on ordering through a discount online store is pretty much lost in shipping. Get your online qoute and then go to places and see if they can bet it. I run a shop in Texas and, having the tire rack an hour aqay, I run in to this. I always bet them. It is better to make some money, then none.
bullitt07 Apr 20th, 05, 10:06 PM Whoa...running into an unforseen problem guys. It's easy to find the 17x8's for the front. But 17x9.5 Torq Thrust II's with 5.5" Backspacing, no one stocks them. Any help here guys. Ordered the tires already, went to tiresavings.com. Need help to find those wheels though. I can't find them anywhere.
69CamaroRacer Apr 20th, 05, 10:59 PM For the wheels you will have to custom order the ofsets. Call American racing and talk to them about it. THey will make you a set to you specs. They cost a bit more but it is the only way to get the sizes you need....

MickyT Apr 21st, 05, 10:09 PM Try Value Tire Center - 800-974-8585.
I bought the same sizes in AR Hopster at an unbeatable price from them. Got the 5.5" custom back space in 2 weeks.
bullitt07 May 5th, 05, 07:20 PM Guys, thanks so much to all of you for your help. So far I've got my tires ordered and my front wheels are on the way as well. I have a problem though. I'm running on a short time line here and so it looks like a special order won't get them here in time, and nobody I have contacted seems to have any in inventory because its a special order item. I'm in Japan right now serving a 2 year tour in the Marines and my month of leave to the states starts May 10th and ends June 10th, so thats my last day to get the chance to see them on my car before I come back over here for another year. Would anyone by any chance have some 17x9.5 Torq-thrust II's with 5.5" backspacing that would bolt up to my 67? Got the money just not the wheels. I would even place the special order to get them replaced if someone had some sitting around that they don't need just yet, but would still like for later. I just want to get the chance to see them on my camaro, maybe play around a little with them and have some pics to keep me company in Japan for the next year. Thanks guys.
