What color is the alternator pulley on an original 69 Z28? I see some that are silver and some that are gold...which is correct? Also, did all 69 Z's use the weird fan blade on the alternator? Thanks.

The silver (cad or zinc?) plated fan and pulley (deep groove) are correct.
As far as the fan goes, I think I remember reading somewhere on here that the ones you get new are a little different than the originals. Something about the wide blades on the fan. My memory is failing me on this exactly.

Thanks for the reply. I see a lot of high dollar 69 Z28's with both the silver cad and the yellowish zinc pulleys...that is why I was wondering which one is correct. I have seen the unusual type fan blades also...I wonder what the purpose of the odd design was?

I have been told that the alt fan should have a little dimple on one blade. I did see this on a 100% original Z recently. And yes it was silver cad.

I recently saw some of the original fan blades for alternators on ebay...the seller stated they were originally galvanized. Does that seem correct?

The silver cad plating on them looks very similar to galvanizing. Thats why he probably thinks that.
Youre right about seeing alot of restored cars with the gold fan. Its a replacement part (as mentioned earlier), and what usually comes on a new alternator. But still not correct, and one of the things that drives me nuts. Probably not a big deal for most cars, but we all have our peculiarities on certain things that we have to have a certain way.

Where would the dimple be? I want to check mine. Anyone else know about the dimple?

Always nice to see you show up JohnZ and show us an original:) I wish I could just have a book that shows every little detail of your car. Hey, take the pics and write it and I will be first in line. Thanks for the great picture.
