I just purchased a 68 camaro, so I am new to the camaro hot rod stuff. The quesstion I have is since the car was origianally a six cylinder car and now has a 454, the front right tire rubs when I hit heavy bumps in the road. The previous owner told me the car had teh week springs but he liked the way the car sits Also the car has ford 9" rearend (389 gear)and when I get on the throttle playing, the back end squats a little to much. I am open for suggestions on making changes to keep the car from bottoming out. Please be gently since this is my first posting. Loving the Camaro so far!!!

Welcome to the world of Camaros. You'll definately have fun with it, and you found the best site to get information and advice.
Sounds like they left the 6cyl springs in the car. Basically theyre not designed to handle the weight. You might be able to get by with them with a SB. Havent tried it before, and it would sit a little low. For a BB, there just plain being overpowered.
As for the rear, same thing. The mono 6cyl leafs arent made for that kind of power and weight transfer. I'm assuming that the V8 monos were tuned differently, but I'm not sure.
My suggestion would be to get a set of springs thats right for a BB 68 Camaro. Should keep it from bottoming out and the car will handle a lot better also.

new springs would be in order, I think. To get the ride ht you want, check out Hotchkiss, or maybe Global West, they make lowering springs that are stiffer than stock
