Does any one have any info on rebuilding original hurst sifters. They are pulling such big bucks that it seems to makes sense to rebuild then to re-buy.
I have not seen any rebuild kits in any parts mags.

Just send it to Hurst. They will rebuild it. Just go to their website.

As far as I know, Hurst is the only ones to send it to for rebuilding.

I dont think I've come across any that needed it before. They seem to hold up pretty well. But even a worn out Hurst is better than the x-member mounted muncie shifter.

Do a search on shifters. It has been discussed. There is another place that specializes in shifters some where on the web.

I've taken them apart, cleaned all the old grease out of them and reassembled with new grease and they work well. The shifters weren't worn out though.

I sent my Comp Plus to Hurst for a rebuild. When I got it back it looked so good I thought they just gave me a new one. I checked the numbers I had written down before shipping and it was the same shifter. It works great. I think they charge a few bucks more for an OEM shifter.

I have one with them now. I'll post when I get it back in a couple of weeks.

I had a speed shop send a factory hurst shifter out of a 78 Trans am that I had and there was no charge. It was a service that hurst did for all there shifters I paid only shipping. I don't know if it is still like this or not. This was about 15 years ago.

I think they charge $65 and it is well worth it. My shifter looked like brand new when I got it back. You wont be disappointed.
