Hello,
I have a problem with the headliner in my Surviver 69 RS. The original threads have become dryrot in a certain area, and the headliner is seperating at the seams. The section is about 5 inches long. Anyone have a possible fix, besides replacing the entire headliner. I am trying to keep the car all original and preserve as much as I can. Thanks for any help!

I would think the only way to repair the seams that are coming apart would be to remove the headliner and have them resewn. The seams are sewn from the inside (back side).
That way you'll still have the original headliner, but getting it back in properly might be a challenge. If you're dead set on keeping it, have an auto upholstery shop do it for you.

If the threading is dry rotted, chances are the original material is in the same shape.

Agree with Codi, changeout of headliner should be scheduled. If you have alot of patience, you can do it.
Do a search here for instructions, lots of members here have done this event. Make sure there is plenty of cold refreshment in the frig when done.
Best tip I've given is if you decide to change the h/liner, let it sit in the sun for a couple of hours. Take lots of notes/pics and spray bomb the rods to what holes they insert into the roof rail for future install. Identify each rod its place on the roof, ie, 1st, 2nd, etc., front ot rear. This is most important.
Upholstery shops will do it for a nominal fee. Usually the visors and sail panels are done at the same time.

If the headliner looks good, you might try to have it repaired before you replace it. , If you find a good seamstress, they might be able to hit the original needle holes. It's only a survivor once.
If the re-sew job doesn't fix the problem, then maybe it't time for a new headliner.
