View Full Version : Looking for a few pictures of the bucket seat latch loop
Double J Apr 23rd, 05, 11:04 AM Hey guys,
I'm putting my buckets back together and need a few refernce pictures. Looking for the mounting locations of the latch loop and the rubber stopper.
Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

sleepsinshed Apr 23rd, 05, 01:48 PM Hi JJ,
Just took a couple of pics of the pass side latch loop and noticed I don't have one on the drivers side. Should there be one there too?
Which rubber stopper do you mean? I don't see any on my seats, but that could just mean I'm missing them...
You didn't mention what year- these are from a 68.

Double J Apr 24th, 05, 09:18 AM The rubber stopper mounts to seatback and would hit the metal tab on the seat bottom.
Not sure but I believe both sides had the loop.

if you are talking about the cable on the seat its on the pass side only so seat doesn't hit the dash pad.

19HoosierDaddies67 Apr 25th, 05, 12:18 AM I am looking for a set of latch loops for my 67 convertible, I am missing both. I did just add the rubber stoppers to both sides, but noticed that I am also missing the metal tab that mounts to the seat back on my drivers side. I was at the pomona swap meet today and a guy was selling two complete buckets from a 68 for $150 but he was not willing to part out the latch loops only. I figured I would hold out for a better deal. Below are pictures of my seats, I hope this helps for the location of things.
Below is the passenger side:

HwyStarJoe Apr 25th, 05, 06:10 AM Sleepsinshed and Double J, the rubber bumper is supposed to be on top of that small, round plate in Kevins first picture. It's missing. They go on the seat bottoms, directly below the round metal bump stop that's mounted to the seat backs.
Double J, if the seat backs have latch mechanisms, then the seat bottoms have the catch (loop) portion. To find where they bolt to the seat frames, gently poke at the seat cover with a small screwdriver until you feel the holes. It takes a lot to poke through the vinyl, but still be careful.
19HoosierDaddies67 Apr 25th, 05, 10:35 PM Oops I moved the pictures after I posted, they should be up now. I hope they help.
sleepsinshed Apr 26th, 05, 06:11 PM Thanks for the info HwyStarJoe. I'll add those bumpers to my next parts order.
Kevin
HwyStarJoe Apr 26th, 05, 07:46 PM I found when I recovered my seats, that the new bumpers didn't even come close to the stops when the seats were all the way back. There may have been more shim washers between the bumpers and\or the stops that I missed. Just an FYI.
I should have added that the way I found where to bolt the catch part on the seat bottom was as I stated above, but I first captured the catch loop thing in the latch and lowered the seat back. This got it pretty close to where the bolts would need to go through. I stuck a black marker through the bolt holes and then I probed to find them.
:)
kz1000ltd May 12th, 05, 03:01 PM Hate to bring up an old post, but I'm going through this exact same thing right now, and this picture displays it perfectly! My seats are in the process of getting recovered, and I'm missing one of the metal tabs that mounts to the seat back!!! Does anyone know where I can find one of these puppies? I haven't been able to locate them in any of the usual places!!! Thanks!!!!

67CruiseMasterCamaro May 12th, 05, 04:41 PM You know, I have been looking for a seat latch for about a year now. I can't seem to find one. Nobody will part out a seat for me and I have been to junkyard to look, but the 67 Camaro bucket latch is a one of a kind, same from 67 to 69 Camaro's but not used on any other car. Maybe Nova, but I have not seen a seat in a Nova. I may have one of those hooks sitting in my boxes of stuff, give me some time to look. I should know this weekend if you can wait that long. All you need is just the hook, and which side do you need?

kz1000ltd May 12th, 05, 05:12 PM I'm really not sure if it's the driver or passenger, are they different? Also, it's not a "hook", it's the round metal piece on the lower part of the seat back that rests on the rubber seat stop.........thanks. KZ
67CruiseMasterCamaro May 12th, 05, 06:03 PM Oh, you are talking about the height stop on the seat back? Or the rubber stop mount? I found the hooks. Those are different per each side. They have an angle as per the latch mount. Is this what you are looking for?

kz1000ltd May 12th, 05, 06:48 PM Height stop on the seat back, that's the ticket!!!! Anybody got a spare???
67CruiseMasterCamaro May 12th, 05, 06:51 PM Ok, I give up. I was trying to help. But the pic wasn't it huh? You got me all confused with saying that you wanted the seat back stop, then the rubber stop on the seat bottom. Make up your mind, which is it you need?

KevinW May 12th, 05, 07:14 PM Scot, I have 69 seats I am parting out. What part do you need?
kz1000ltd May 12th, 05, 07:52 PM It was the original poster that said he needed the latch, not me, I guess that's where you got confused. I hi-jacked the post because he had a picture of exactly the part I needed, and I wasn't sure what it was called. It's the seat back height stop I need, not the latch! Sorry about the confusion......KZ
HwyStarJoe May 12th, 05, 08:10 PM And yes, those latches that bolt to the seat BOTTOMS are different for left and right sides.
John, I'd think you could find those seat back stops in the junkyard. Flip a bunch of bucket seats or front seats in two door cars and look.
67CruiseMasterCamaro May 12th, 05, 08:46 PM Kevin, I need the passenger seat back latch. Mine is rusted from a bunch of mice that made the seat back their home for about 5 years. I tried to sandblast it, but it barely moves. You have one that I could buy off of you? How much? Are all the latches the same for the passenger seat?
KZ1000, I was really confused by the replies you left for me. I was trying to help you with those seat parts. It was as if I was carrying a one way conversation with you. Please re-read the thread. Then you will understand. Kevin was leaving me a reply for the latches, not to you. Hence if you read his reply, you would see my name first in the body of his reply. No big deal really. But please read the thread before you reply. Thanks.

KevinW May 12th, 05, 08:56 PM Never fear, I have you both covered. (get it?, seats, covered :) ) Anyway KZ, I have one, sent a PM.
Scot, do you need the part that bolts to the seat bottom or back? pretty sure I have both on the pass seat. Oops, reread you post and you want the seat back latch, I have it. I have to take the back apart to get it, but no biggie. I just have not gotten there yet. I will send a PM.
The seats I am parting out were in an accident that twisted the seat bottom frames and tracks, but the rest of the parts are good. I have been harvesting the bottom springs. Anyone else need anything else while we are here? :D
67CruiseMasterCamaro May 12th, 05, 08:58 PM HAHAHA, funny, you got one in on my sideways....hehe. I would like to get the latch the is on the seat back, the one that you have to lift the knob to release the seat back to flip forward. I think it has like 3 bolts on it. I don't need anything on the bottom, latch loop or the adjustment stop. Just the latch on the seat back. Did I explain it right?

kz1000ltd May 12th, 05, 09:50 PM No problem Scott, Kevin's got us both "hooked" up, once again, sorry for the confusion.........KZ
KevinW May 15th, 05, 05:11 PM Scot, John, I didn't get to the seatback parts this weekend, sorry. I will try to get to it as soon as I can. Started to work on my rear spring problem (car doesn't sit level, rear is cocked and springs are twisted). Seems when I welded one of the perches back on (axle tube was ripped open), I was one degree off, which put the rear in a strange position. Spent sat taking the springs off and setting them perfectly to see what the problem was. Today was spent stripping a spare 10bolt (thanks Bill!) to get a another perch because the current perch is going to be destroyed to get it off (damn welds :)) Tomorrow is cutting the perch off and rewelding the new one on. What fun :(
braber427 May 15th, 05, 07:29 PM I just checked my 69 and I think it's original. The rubber stopper (one per seat) is mounted to the seat bottom, on the side closest to the console. My car had only one loop, attached to the console side of the passenger's seat. The driver's seat rests on the sterring wheel when tilted, so maybe they didn't instal one there.
67CruiseMasterCamaro May 15th, 05, 08:40 PM Alrighty Kevin. I can wait till you get time, just don't forget me. OK?

Thanks,
